The Lonely Pain of Depression
Do you experience a heaviness that seems to linger no matter what you do, who you are around, or how much sleep you get? Perhaps even the simplest things like, taking a shower, brushing your teeth, or eating can feel like they require more energy than you have to give. Maybe there are times when everything going on in your day feels so overwhelming that even getting out of bed can feel difficult.
In Topeka, Kansas, online therapy with me offers a space where we can slow down, gently explore your depression, and better understand what you're experiencing without judgement. We will acknowlege what you're experiencing and make space to understand what your depression feels like for you, not just focus on trying to make it go away.
Together, we may explore whether your depression could be serving a protective purpose, such as helping you avoid or disconnect from an emotion or experience that feels uncomfortable or overwhelming. We will gently explore what may be underneath the depression while respecting your pace and what feels manageable for you.
We will also work toward small, meaningful goals that fit where you are right now. Rather than expecting you to change everything at once, we can focus on manageable steps that can help you gradually reconnect with your life and the things that matter to you.
You don't have to navigate this experience alone. In our therapy space, I will be there with you as we notice, explore, and process what you're experiencing. Together, we can slow things down and explore what you may need to provide yourself with greater care and compassion, while honoring your needs, values, and beliefs.
